TALISMAN: European 'Farewell' Tour Postponed Again
December 29, 2006Long-running Swedish-American melodic hard rock band TALISMAN — which revolves around former YNGWIE MALMSTEEN members Jeff Scott Soto (vocals; now in JOURNEY) and Marcel Jacob (bass) — has once again postponed its previously announced European "farewell" tour (most recently scheduled to take place in April 2007).
Commented Jeff Scott Soto: "The team had done everything they could to ensure that the whole band be 100% available and, having waited for the various announcements, we pressed the 'send' button. However some of the dates were awaiting full confirmation and there were still one or two pending questions whether the timing worked alongside myself and one other bandmember. If we're to do this tour, it is imperative to us and you, the fans, to get the lineup you're expecting on a farewell tour; it wouldn't make sense to bring in a former member or even new player in closing this chapter of one of the most important entities of my career and life.
"I hope you do realize it's nothing further than simple timing preventing us moving forward with the existing dates. I do hope and plan to readdress this whole thing, possibly adding more dates than were posted, later this year when some of us are freed up of prior commitments.
"My apologies to all our fans and friends alike. We are all disappointed now, but know this is for the better so we can do it properly later... and potentially longer!"
TALISMAN's latest album, "7", was released on October 20, 2006 via Frontiers Records. Recorded under the working title of "Bar" (which was dropped in the end in favor of the more immediate "7"),the CD sees once again the combination of four amazing talents flourishing to the highest levels. The experienced Swedish bass player and songwriter Marcel Jacob teamed once again with Jeff Scott Soto, drummer Jamie Borger (TREAT) and guitarist Fredrik Åkesson (now the second axeman in ARCH ENEMY) to give birth to a sensational new recording that, according to Jacob, "might simply be our best ever."
